(Fire Dance)
A Vision of Fire is an extended version of the Fire Dance section taken from my larger work Elemental. The piece was extended during the Covid-19 pandemic for a virtual young musicians instrumental workshop at the North Wales International Music Festival in September 2020.
A Vision of Fire begins in smouldering ambiguity with a dense and cloudy texture covering the emerging melody. The Lower Brass and Percussion cut through the musical obscurity to drive the orchestra towards a climax. Out of the ashes of this gesture emerges an energetic 7/8 dance which propels the piece to its dramatic conclusion.
